April 8th Weather Outlook for Newfoundland and Labrador

In St. John’s, residents should brace for a return to winter-like conditions. The day is expected to begin with light snow and flurries, giving way to a mix of snow and sleet in the afternoon. While accumulations aren’t expected to be significant—ranging from one to three centimetres—commuters may want to take extra caution on slippery roads. Temperatures will hover around the freezing mark, with a high near zero and a low dipping just below.

Corner Brook will see a mostly cloudy day, with temperatures remaining chilly throughout. While no significant precipitation is expected, the overcast skies and cold air will maintain a wintery feel. The high will reach about three degrees, with an overnight low near minus three.

In Gander, the forecast calls for cloud cover with light snow and flurries moving in during the afternoon. A light dusting of up to one centimetre is possible. Temperatures will remain steady near two degrees during the day, dropping to minus three overnight.

Meanwhile, in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, Labrador, skies are expected to clear slightly as the day progresses. After a breezy morning, it will turn partly sunny and slightly milder. Temperatures will peak around two degrees but drop significantly overnight, reaching lows near minus sixteen.

Overall, while spring is officially here, winter is still hanging on across Newfoundland and Labrador. Residents should continue to dress warmly, monitor road conditions, and stay tuned to Environment Canada for the latest updates.
