Bonavista, NL – A 52-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a stabbing incident in Bonavista on Wednesday evening.
Bonavista RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing at a local residence shortly before 7:00 p.m. When officers arrived, they located the victim at the scene. Emergency Medical Services were called, but the victim declined medical treatment.
The accused, identified as Jerry Pearce, was known to the victim. He was located at a nearby residence and arrested without incident.
Pearce has been charged with the following offences:

Assault with a weapon

Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Failure to comply with a condition of a release order
He appeared in court on Thursday and was remanded into custody. Pearce is scheduled to appear in court again today for a bail hearing.
RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
