Detour in Place on Anderson Avenue for Shared-Use Path Construction

St. John’s, NL – Motorists and pedestrians traveling through central St. John’s should prepare for detours and delays as construction work begins today on Anderson Avenue.

The City of St. John’s has announced a temporary lane closure on Anderson Avenue between Guy Street and Freshwater Road as part of ongoing upgrades under the Kelly’s Brook Shared-Use Path project. The work will continue for three weeks, wrapping up at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6.

During this period, eastbound traffic will remain open, while westbound vehicles will be detoured via Howlett Avenue. Signage will guide drivers through the reroute, and traffic control personnel will be on-site to assist.

Pedestrian access will also be maintained with alternate walking routes clearly marked.

City officials are advising commuters to expect slower traffic in the area and to consider taking alternate routes where possible to avoid delays.
