Fire Ban Issued for St. John’s, Mount Pearl, and Paradise Amid High Hazard Rating

Avalon Peninsula, NL — The St. John’s Regional Fire Department has issued a fire ban for St. John’s, Mount Pearl, and Paradise due to an elevated fire hazard rating across the region.

Effective immediately, the ban prohibits all outdoor wood-burning appliances, charcoal barbecues, and open fires. However, propane firepits and propane BBQs are still permitted for use.

The fire ban will remain in place until Tuesday, June 3, 2025, when the situation will be reassessed based on updated weather and environmental conditions.

Residents are urged to comply with the restrictions and to exercise caution in outdoor areas. The fire department is asking the public to report any signs of smoke or fire immediately to prevent potential wildfires.

Updates will be provided as conditions change.
