Fuel prices in Newfoundland and Labrador saw a significant drop on Thursday, with gasoline prices decreasing by up to 4.8 cents per litre in some areas. This marks the largest decline in fuel costs in nearly five months.

The Public Utilities Board (PUB) adjusted fuel prices based on zone differentials across the province, leading to gasoline price reductions ranging from 3.7 to 4.8 cents per litre, depending on location. This follows a similar drop last week.

On the Avalon Peninsula, the maximum price for gasoline now stands at $1.65 per litre, while prices in other parts of Newfoundland range between $1.66 and $1.81 per litre. In Labrador West and Churchill Falls, prices also fell by 4.8 cents per litre, with maximum fuel costs now between $1.73 and $2.16 per litre. However, much of Labrador remains under a price freeze.

Other Fuel Price Changes

  • Diesel: Decreased between 3.5 and 4.7 cents per litre, with prices now ranging from $1.95 to $2.08 per litre in Newfoundland and $1.82 to $2.25 per litre in Labrador.
  • Furnace Oil: Dropped between 3.1 and 4.1 cents per litre, with maximum prices in Newfoundland now between $1.28 and $1.48 per litre.
  • Stove Oil: Reduced in Labrador West and Churchill Falls, with maximum prices between $1.20 and $1.69 per litre.
  • Propane: Decreased by 1.4 cents per litre, now ranging between $1.17 and $1.32 per litre in Newfoundland and $1 to $1.35 per litre in Labrador.

Shift in Price Adjustment Schedule

This marks the final week that fuel price adjustments will be made on Thursdays. Starting next week, the PUB will implement changes on Fridays instead.
