RNC Searching for Ibrahim Hussein Wanted for Homicide Following East End Shooting

St. John’s, NL – The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is actively searching for 19-year-old Ibrahim Hussein of St. John’s in connection with a homicide that occurred in the city’s east end Monday night.

At approximately 9:15 p.m. on April 8, RNC officers responded to a weapons offence in progress near Watson Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 33-year-old man outside a residence suffering from injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. The victim was rushed to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

The RNC has since confirmed the incident was targeted and has identified Hussein as the suspect. A warrant has been issued for his arrest on the following charges:

  • First Degree Murder
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Careless Use of a Firearm
  • Breach of Release Order

Hussein is described as approximately 5’8” tall, weighing around 170 lbs, with black dreadlocked hair, dark brown eyes, and is of Syrian descent. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and is known to often wear a headband.

The RNC is warning the public that Hussein is believed to be armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him is urged not to approach and to contact police immediately.

“We extend our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this tragic time,” said the RNC in a statement.
